My client, a successful and growing specialist SME children's services provider, has approached Howarth Morris to assist in the recruitment of a Financial Controller. My client is expected to grow significantly over the next few years as they expand their operation. As a result of this continued performance, the Board are seeking to appoint a competent Financial Controller to manage their accounting function. Previously outsourced, this will be the first in-house appointment within Finance. The Financial Controller will report to directly to the MD, and support the Board through the continued development of KPI reporting. Based in modern offices in Leeds but offering hybrid working, the successful candidate will have ownership of the full accounts operation comprising of Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Management Accounts, budgets and forecasts. You will become part of a small and dedicated team. 'Softer' skills are key to this role and it is imperative that you are able to engage and build rapport at all levels. You will have the ability to self-manage, and be professional and pro-active in your approach. A 'hands on' remit, you will take full responsibility for the day to day running of the Finance department, whilst providing key support to the Board. My client is keen to appoint a candidate who can hit the ground running. The successful candidate will understand that the business has grown quickly and as a consequence of this, some of the systems and processes are not yet where they need to be - however, the Board are committed to investing to make the required improvements but the successful candidate will be willing to work with the business to improve existing processes and help them get to where they need to be. In addition to monthly management accounts, your role will also cover reconciliation of Ledgers and bank accounts, VAT returns, and cash flow forecasting. MS Excel experience is key and any knowledge of Xero would be advantageous. The business culture is positive, customer focused and friendly.
